The Common-use signing interface (CSI)

CSI is the software component that allows businesses to securely transact online with Government agencies using digital certificates. You will need to download and install CSI before you install your digital certificate on your computer.

Digital certificates are electronic files which contain information that identifies you when you use online services. The certificate authenticates you to our systems and allows you to digitally sign electronic documents.

In electronic transactions, a digital signature is used instead of a handwritten signature. When you add a digital signature to an electronic transaction, you are identifying yourself and (in some cases) agreeing to the content of the transaction.

Please note the CSI has not been designed to provide the same levels of security when operating with terminal services products. For more information, go to our terminal services page.
